Plaza La Alameda Shopping Center
In summer of 2008, construction was completed on La Alameda regional shopping center in unincorporated Florence-Firestone Walnut Park. La Alameda is a $70 million, 18.3-acre project that combines 220,000 square feet of retail space with 18,000 square feet of office space and features a transit center, making the shopping center easily accessed via public transportation.
La Alameda has generated up to 700 new jobs. Some of the retail tenants included in the project include Ross Dress 4 Less, Payless Shoe Source, CVS Pharmacy, Marshall's, Don Chente's Bar And Grill, Wingstop, Office Depot, Dollar Tree, Chuck E. Cheese, Panda Express, Gamestop, Cold Stone Creamery, Petco, Susie's Deals, and Adriana's Insurance.
The grand opening ceremony was held on July 12, 2008 and was presided over by supervisor Gloria Molina and the LA County Community Development Commission.
